Last week, I had the pleasure of attending my very first SKAL Dinner in Koh Samui, held at the stunning Anantara Bophut Resort. The evening was everything I hoped it would be a mix of great people, beautiful ambience, and meaningful conversations surrounded by the charm of island hospitality.
A Warm Welcome in the Garden of Anantara Bophut
The evening began in the resort’s lush tropical garden a perfect setting to start the night. With soft lights twinkling among the palm trees, the atmosphere felt effortlessly elegant yet relaxed. We were greeted with a selection of fine wines, refreshing cocktails, and delicious canapés that immediately set the tone for a wonderful night ahead.
What I love about Anantara Bophut is how it captures the essence of Koh Samui’s beautY serene, tropical, and inviting. You could feel the ocean breeze, hear the gentle hum of the night, and see everyone smiling and mingling, enjoying the golden hour glow.

What Is SKAL International?
For those who are not familiar, SKAL International is a professional organization that brings together people from the travel and tourism industry worldwide. The idea is simple yet powerful doing business among friends. Members include hoteliers, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, media professionals, and more all united by their shared passion for tourism and hospitality.
In Koh Samui, SKAL hosts monthly dinners at different venues across the island. Sometimes they also organize workshops and seminars related to the travel and tourism industry. It’s a wonderful platform not only for professionals to network but also to stay updated with trends that shape the tourism landscape.
Why I Joined the SKAL Dinner
As someone who works in marketing and manages global travel brands across Southeast Asia, staying connected to what’s happening in the tourism industry is essential for my work. Attending SKAL events allows me to gain insights, build relationships, and exchange ideas that can inspire new campaign strategies.
But beyond the professional side, I also simply love meeting people, learning about their roles in the industry, and finding shared passions. Networking has always been something that energizes me, and SKAL feels like a natural space where genuine connections happen.
Dinner, Conversations, and a Warm Welcome
After the cocktail session, we moved to the dining area, where the General Manager of Anantara Bophut, Mr. Thomas Boehringer, personally welcomed us. His warm hospitality and enthusiasm truly made the evening special.
The dinner itself was an absolute delight from the beautifully plated starters and appetizers to the main course and dessert. Each dish was crafted with precision and flavor, reflecting Anantara’s commitment to culinary excellence. The service was seamless, and the ambiance of the dining room made it easy to relax and engage in good conversation.
Throughout the night, I had the chance to chat with people from various sectors hotel, tourism representatives, marketing professionals, and entrepreneurs. It was inspiring to see how everyone, in their own way, contributes to promoting Koh Samui as one of the most beautiful destinations in Thailand.

A Memorable Evening Worth Repeating
By the end of the night, I left feeling inspired, grateful, and already excited for the next SKAL Dinner. It’s rare to find an event that blends business networking with genuine connection so naturally.
For anyone in the travel, tourism, or hospitality industry or simply passionate about the island life and global connections I highly recommend joining SKAL Koh Samui. It’s more than just dinner; it’s a celebration of friendship, culture, and collaboration.
Until the next one, cheers to new connections, good food, and island nights filled with meaningful conversations.
Love,
CM
